6 yard skip hire anywhere in the UK

A 6 yard skip is one of the most popular skip sizes ordered for domestic and commercial projects. They’re convenient for home and garden renovations where you need to dispose of the waste as you create it.

It is also commonly called the Builders Skip, as they’re found mostly on construction sites, but can be used on lots of different jobs and is one of the most convenient skip sizes due to the different types of waste it holds. What waste can you put in a 6 yard skip?

6 yard skips can hold approximately 50 large black bin bags, including rubble, furniture, and soil, as long as the soil isn’t contaminated. This skip size will hold most waste types, that’s why they are such a popular choice for both domestic and commercial jobs and are recommended for most house renovations and extensions.

You can put the following items into a 6-yard skip:

  • Garden waste, including tree branches and foliage, but excluding tree stumps
  • Building waste, including bricks, rubble, metal, hardcore and plastic
  • Household Waste, including non-electrical fittings, packaging, furniture, and paint as long as it is solidified, but it’s best to check this with us first.

A full list of what you can and can’t put into a Fast Skips skip can be found on our Skip Hire FAQs.

How much does a 6 yard skip cost?

The cost of a 6 yard skip will differ depending on where you live in the UK and whether you need a permit from your local council. If you do not have private land or a driveway where the skip can be placed, you will need to put the skip on council owned public roads.

This will require a permit, which is an extra cost, and the price varies depending on your local council. The price for this will be added to your total skip price in the checkout, and we will arrange the permit on your behalf.

How big is a 6 yard skip?

The approximate dimensions for a 6 yard are 9.5 foot long, 4.6 foot wide and 3.2 foot high. If we had to suggest a loose comparison, we would say 6 yard skips are about the size of a fiat 500, meaning they’re perfect for fitting on the average drive or on the roadside.
