Can I put the skip on the road or path outside my home?
You can have the skip outside of your home on public roads providing it’s not violating any road/traffic rules at that location i.e. double yellow lines. You cannot block a public footpath, so there needs to be ample space on the road so that the skip can be placed and not be obtrusive to road users. If you will be placing the skip on the road and not on private property then you will need a permit from your local council to do so. We will arrange for your permit if you request a roadside dropoff. We only charge for the amount paid to the council to obtain the permit, there are no additional costs. Skip hire available to book today anywhere in the UK
The below skip sizes are available to book today:
4 yard skip, 6 yard skip, 8 yard skip, 12 yard skip, 14 yard skip, 16 yard skip. Our skip hire prices start from as little as £150.00.
These skip sizes are perfect for home renovations, construction projects and waste clearances. An 8 yard skip is the largest skip size that can go on a public road.
You can put most waste materials into our skips, including the most common soil (in a 4, 6 and 8 yard only), wood and plastics. But there are some items we need to know about in advance so we can advise you on the best disposal method. For more information on what you can put into your skip, visit our FAQ page.
Wait and load skip hire service
We can also provide a ‘Wait and Load’ service with our skip hire. This is where we will deliver your chosen skip size and wait up to 30 minutes for you to load the skip. We will remove it immediately; if you need longer than 30 minutes, please contact us, as this could be arranged for an additional cost.
A wait and load service is recommended for properties with restrictive areas, including double yellow lines and bus stops. If you do not need the skip for a full week or have been refused a skip permit from the council, we recommend this household skip hire service as a better alternative.

Where is the best place to put a skip?
As long as you have a postcode, you can have your skip hire delivered almost anywhere in the UK through Fast Skips. Our skips can be placed onto your drive or private land, including a garden. However, if you do not have access to private land, our 4, 6 and 8 yard skips are the available sizes that can go onto a road.
Skips that need to go onto a public road will require a permit from your local council. After you book your skip, all skip hire permits will be arranged for you by our friendly team. Skip hire permits will require an extra charge, which will be added to your total before you complete your booking online.

Our promise to be environmentally friendly
Our excellent nationwide skip hire service is possible thanks to our dedicated and reliable suppliers. Before we choose to work with a new supplier, it’s important to us that they meet our sustainability standards. At our facility in Sheffield, we recycle over 98% of all skip waste brought to our site.
Our suppliers must meet these standards and understand the importance of the environment and how we can work together to reduce our waste management impact on the planet. Keeping the amount of waste in landfill to an absolute minimum and avoiding incineration, we opt for eco-friendly waste disposal and put environmental protection first.
We are also proud to be registered with the Environmental Agency for both Waste Recycling and Scrap Metal Recycling.
